Common questions
Is the exchange free to use?
Yes. Posting loads and free capacity, browsing the board and contacting the other side all cost nothing. There is no subscription, no commission on a deal, and no paid placement in the listings.
Does Cargo Market move freight itself?
No. It is a marketplace: companies with freight on one side, companies with spare truck space on the other. We own no vehicles, employ no drivers, and are neither a carrier nor a freight forwarder. The transport contract is between you and your counterparty, not with us.
How are companies checked?
We check documents and public registers, and each company page states exactly what was checked, against which source, and when. VAT numbers are validated against the EU VIES system; carrier licences and CMR insurance come from supplied documents with their expiry dates. When a document expires the mark drops automatically. We do not guarantee that a company will do what it promised · no register can tell you that.
Who is liable if cargo is damaged or lost?
The carrier, under the transport contract between you and them. International carriage by road is governed by the CMR Convention, which caps carrier liability at 8.33 SDR per kilogram. That may not cover high-value goods, so consider insuring the cargo separately. Cargo Market is not a party to that contract and does not settle claims under it.
Do I need an account to see the listings?
No. Both boards, the map and the border queues are open to everyone, with no account and no fee. An account is needed only to post, make an offer or exchange messages · at which point we check the company, so the other side knows who they are dealing with.
What freight and which lanes does the board cover?
Road freight across Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, from general cargo to temperature-sensitive. For pharmaceutical freight the temperature regime and the GDP mark are structured fields on a listing, so you can filter on them. Air and sea are not offered yet: better to offer nothing than fields that do not describe the mode.
